SUMMARY:British Council’s Cambridge Awards Ceremony 2020
DESCRIPTION:For the first time in the history of British Council Sri Lanka\, an award ceremony was arranged to felicitate its Exams Registration Partners and CAE examiners. The event was held at the Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo and two examiners from Headway\, Messers Suresh Rethinam and Moharanjithan Narendran were awarded for their contribution to the successful delivery of the exams throughout Sri Lanka. Mrs. Nishani Perera \, the Account Relationship & Business Development Manager\, who organized the event appreciated Headway’s success in organizing exam sessions in Batticaloa. Headway received the Regional partner (Eastern Region) award and Bronze Award for the number exam registration among 250 registration centers across the island for the year 2019. \nWhen addressing his staff at a consequent event at Headway to celebrate this event\, Mr.Ranjith Anthony Thevasgayam \,the CEO\, reminded that Headway was the first organization to invite British Council to conduct exams outside Colombo and Kandy and this was in 2003.

DESCRIPTION:As an initiative to encourage the younger generation to choose environmentally friendly behaviours and live sustainably with less waste and damage to the environment\, Headway intended to use solar panels to power its new facility. ‘Using solar energy to run our new facility was indeed part of our dream to have own building’ reminded Mr. Moharanjithan Narendran\, one of the directors. ‘It is worth to remind that Headway’s dream building is made of containers- a greater example of going green’ he added. ‘We have less worry over our electricity builds now’ said the CEO\, Mr. Ranjith Antony Thevasagayam.

SUMMARY:Headway Sports meet 2019
DESCRIPTION:The admin team has been contemplating for a long time whether to organize a sports meet or not since our major objective is to teach English. As per the request from our adult learners\, it was finally decided to have a sports meet in December 2019. The events not only included outdoor games such as cricket and badminton\, but also included indoor events such as carom and chess. Students showed their colours equally in both types of events. The prize giving ceremony was held at the Hindu College ground when Mr. Thushiyanthan Nadarajah\, Chief Operating Officer informed that he has a plan to continue this as an annual event.

DESCRIPTION:Under the leadership of Mr.Nadarajah Thushyanthan\, Chief Operating Officer\, an annual event of the school was celebrated this year too. The priest who performed the ceremony reminded the students that in many such occasions it was foreseen that the poojai will be performed in Headway’s new building and it had come true. Headway kids participated in a Bajan which they themselves organized with the help of teachers.

SUMMARY:Free English Camp 2019
DESCRIPTION:During the August holidays a fun filled English Holiday Camp was introduced for the first time. Young learners from Headway and students from government and international schools participated in this interesting event\, which went on for four days. Parents appreciated the teachers and informed that their kids loved the activities which helped them not only to learn the language but also to meet others and have fun. Mrs. Niranjala Basker\, who initiated the event informed that the event will be repeated every year.

Rob Low\, the exams manager said that he hopes the event gave an opportunity for the partners all over the country to share their knowledge and experience in marketing and delivering IELTS exams. A number of part time IELTS examiners\, which included Mr.Moharanjithan Narendran \,received awards for their outstanding service to the exams department of British Council.

DESCRIPTION:Brandix Essentials Batticaloa signed a contract with Headway to teach Business English to its employees. Two batches of Executives joined the course which includes spoken English and writing skills\, especially e-mail writing. SUMMARY:Grand Opening of Headway’s Biggest Dream Project
DESCRIPTION:For some it was just an opening ceremony of a language school building with state of the art facilities. But for those who have been travelling with the Headway family\, it was but a long term dream coming true. Twenty years ago\, a simple school teacher had a dream of building a school building with all the facilities a student could dream of. After years of toil that dream came true on 11th June 2018. A large number of parents\, religious dignitaries\, students\, family\, franchisees\, well-wishers and general public gathered at No.12\, Thamaraikeni Road\, where the building is housed\, gathered to witness this great event. The chief guest Mr.Nagendran Uthayakumar\, the Government Agent\, said that he had been observing the genuine service rendered by Headway from its inception and congratulated the directors and the staff for their great team work in achieving this success. Mr.Moharanjithan Narendran in his address thanked the staff without whom such a dream could not have been achieved. He said that he was indebted to the directors and CEO of Adventis Lanka limited\, the building contractors\, who completed the works in 2 and a half months. Representatives from National Development bank\, the lenders for the project said that they were proud to be a part of the project. \nVisitors were surprised to hear that the entire facility with eight classrooms\, two language labs \, a library \, a kitchen and other admin rooms were all built by 42 containers which helped to speed up the construction work and to be a great example of choosing environmentally friendly materials with less waste and damage to nature. \nThe efficient and dedicated construction workers were highly appreciated by the CEO Mr. Ranjith Antony Thevasagayam\, who in fact\, designed the building and monitored every moment of the construction work.
